This piece has never been used as an actual ashtray.  It has been displayed and loved for years and has wear
commensurate with its age and display.
There are some minute scratches mainly to the bottom on which it sits.  There is some discoloration to the silver-tone metal mainly near the rivets where the topper is attached to the ashtray.  I have not attempted to clean this, but it may be possible or could easily even be re-chromed in that area.  The silver-tone medallion with the wording is nice, clean and legible which is wonderful!
