Georgian XL Pinchbeck Portrait Miniature Locket

Description

This is a larger than life Georgian Pinchbeck locket! It was originally intended to hold a portrait miniature and/or hair work. It has gorgeous details, with repoussé metal work and a swirling foliate pattern. There is a shield shaped medallion on the front. The bail is very large and detailed as well. There is a small repair on the inside of the hinge that was done in antiquity.
It measures 2.2 inches long by 1.86 inches wide. The bail measures 0.77 inches long by 0.64 inches wide. It weighs 30.3 grams. The chains are sold separately.
