ANTIQUE GEORGIAN GOLD SILVER CHRYSOLITE & RUBY MOURNING LOCKET PENDANT c1790
An antique gold backed & silver fronted pendant, with a beautiful foliate surround set with brightly foiled chrysolites and rubies, around a glass locket holding an old woven hair memento (hinging open at the back for easy access inside) and a later drop. The pendant features a hook rather than a loop or bail, so may need securing/altering for wear.
Such a wonderful early locket in lovely condition...so collectible!
CONDITION
: Generally very good. Slight signs of wear & foil deterioration commensurate with age and use. Spike drop an old addition.
DATE/MARKS
: Around 1780. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS
: 39 x 22 mm overall (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT
: Approx. 5.2 grams.
