    Description

    A superb genuine antique 17th century English faceted Stuart crystal slide, containing a cypher of gold wire and an image depicting skull and crossbones over a woven hair memento. The locket is made of solid 18 carat gold with wave-type edging and its choker guides were replaced a very long time ago. As is typical with this kind of piece, the Stuart crystal's facets are large and cover its entire rounded surface. The cypher is of the initials 'GT' which are also found engraved to the back of the locket in typical period script, while the skull and crossbones image appears to have once been bigger but has broken up inside, leaving traces over the hair. It dates from the mid 17th century and there's no sign anywhere of it having been opened, so the contents are completely original. It weighs 4.2 grams and measures 23 x 18 mm. The final photo shows it with a US penny (1 cent) coin for scale, which measures 19 mm / ¾ of an inch diameter.
